Does the pandemic of children using internet connected devices stunt their social emotional skills? This is a question that concerned parents have been asking for some time, myself included. The inferential evidence is in front of us wherever we look; just the other day I was in a park and kids were trotting by on the sidewalk with eyes down , one tripped and fell and the others didn’t even notice.
One parent, physician Delaney Ruston set out to answer that question and produced a film documentary called, “Screenagers: Growing up in the Digital Age,” when she was confronted with the question of whether to purchase a smartphone for her 12-year-old daughter.

The film explores the impacts of the digital age on children through statistics and anecdotal evidence from doctors, researchers and educators, who see the effects firsthand. It also provides tips on how to help families find balance.
The powerful message of this film is most effective when delivered in a community setting. We’ve seen real change with teens and their families when the movie is viewed with the people they know and trust, supported by guided discussion and follow through. For this reason, SCREENAGERS is only available when a person, group, company, church, etc. hosts a screening. Across the country, screenings are frequently sold out as successful fundraising events.

The SCREENAGERS team provides promotional materials, educational guides, and personal appearances so it’s easy to set up a screening, giving the kids, parents, educators, and co-workers in your community the most meaningful impact possible from your event.
If you run a tutoring center, camp or after school facility consider offering a screening of this film as a parent resource service or include it as part of another event you are hosting. You could help teens and their parents and achieve valuable exposure for your business .
